History- The Grove Street Families were formed in Ganton (initially in Grove Street) before spreading to the rest of Ganton and other neighborhoods. History before this time period (late 80's) is unknown, and much of what happened to the families during the late 80's is also unknown. However, what is known is that the Families are one of the oldest gangs in Los Santos - this possibly means that they are older than the Ballas (who formed during the 1970s) - giving the possibility that the Families evolved from the 1960s or even possibly earlier.
The Families also have a history of a traditional, intense, and bloody rivalry with the Ballas. Specifically when the gang war started is unknown, but the rivalry between the two gangs was in full swing as early as 1987. The start and reason of their rivalry with the Los Santos Mexican gangs is unknown, though their rivalry with the Vagos has most likely developed due to their expansion and growth around their territory along with their heavy crack-cocaine influence. Despite being divided into different sets, the Families were one big gang prior to 1992.
Prior to 1992, the Families also controlled the southern portion of East Los Santos and Idlewood. They may have also controlled Willowfield.
Bio: The Families control the entire neighborhoods of Chamberlain Hills and Strawberry. However, Forum Drive and the Crystal Heights projects are particular hotspots for activity. Families have slightly more territory than Ballas. Members are often seen drinking, driving vehicles, walking dogs, and hanging out on the sidewalks. They usually stand in groups of 3-5. Weapons of choice include Micro SMGs (rarely), Pistols, and knives. They are often seen drinking Pißwasser lager and smoking cigarettes or marijuana, while chatting about their gang lives and such.
The Ballas-
Name of Leader and Rank/title: Unkown
Type: African-American Street Gang
Affiliations: Stretch
Members and Ranks/titles: N/A
Territories conquered, controlled, or are hoping to take over: Davis
HQ: Grove Street
Business/es: Drug Trafficking/Manufacturing
Owned properties/Fronts: Paleto Forest Sawmill, Grove Street
Colors/uniforms/clothing: Purple attire
Distinguishing Vehicles: BMX, Buccaneer, Felon, Manana, Peyote, Jackal, Tornado, Baller, Oracle
Distinguishing Tattoos and placement: N/A
History- Information regarding the founding of the Ballas or the date in which they were formed is unknown. However, they have been around since the 1970's. They have maintained a traditional, intense and bloody rival with the Grove Street Families. Specifically when the gang war started is unknown, but the rivalry between the two gangs was in full swing as early as 1987. The reasons or date of their rivalry with the Varrios Los Aztecas and Los Santos Vagos is unknown. However, it is likely due to territorial reasons due to the close proximity of territories. The Ballas were responsible for the death of Beverly Johnson (mother of Sweet and Carl Johnson) in 1992 just before CJ's return. The Ballas used a Green Sabre vehicle to hit the Johnson House with the intent to kill Sweet (leader of the Grove Street Families). However, Sweet was not home and his mother was hit instead. The Ballas also establish underground ties for drug supplies with Grove Street OG Big Smoke before CJ's return - a secret relationship which is initially unknown to Sweet, CJ and the Grove Street Families.
It is likely that the Ballas controlled the area of Temple prior to 1992 due to the presence of a fourth Ballas set known as the "Temple Drive Ballas" as well as graffiti of the "Temple Drive Ballas" that still exists in the area. However, during 1992, Temple is under the control of the "Temple Drive Families" (a family set). It is likely that the Temple Drive Ballas are defunct/inactive.
Bio: They still maintain their traditional rivalry with the Families. The Ballas control the entire community of Davis. The cul-de-sac of Grove Street is a particular hotspot for activity as well as Davis Avenue, Brouge Avenue and Covenant Avenue in the neighborhood. The Ballas also have a marijuana growing/packing business set up in an abandoned sawmill to the southwest of Paleto Bay.
Los Santos Vagos-
Name of Leader and Rank/title: Unkown
Type: Mexican Street Gang
Affiliations: Aztecas, The Professionals, Madrazo Cartel, The Lost MC
Members and Ranks/titles: Edgar Carlos, Esteban Jimenez, Gustavo Mota (formerly), Luis Francesco (possibly), Pedro Luna
Territories conquered, controlled, or are hoping to take over: Rancho, Central Cypress Flats
HQ: Rancho
Business/es: Drug Trafficking
Owned properties/Fronts: Rancho Projects
Colors/uniforms/clothing: Yellow attire
Distinguishing Vehicles: Baller, BMX, Buccaneer, Cavalcade, Emperor, Manana, Peyote, Rancher XL, Tornado, Vigero
Distinguishing Tattoos and placement: N/A
History- The historicity of the Vagos, when the gang was formed, and historical events about the gang is shrouded in mystery, though they probably started forming along with the other Los Santos gangs during the 70's and 80's.
Prior to 1992, they also controlled northern East Los Santos. This is evidenced by CJ's reaction to OG Loc directing CJ to northern East Los Santos to find and kill Freddy during the mission OG Loc. CJ states, "Ain't this Vagos' hood?". This is due to CJ being away from Los Santos for five years and not been knowledgable on the current situation of the gangs. During 1992, the area is actually controlled by the Ballas instead. Likewise, a Vagos gang house remains in the area - which is destroyed during the mission Burning Desire.
Since northern East Los Santos was once part of Vagos territory before falling under Ballas control in 1992, there must have been either a gang war or a diplomatic agreement between the Ballas and the Vagos at some point.
The start and reason of their rivalries with the Aztecas, Grove Street Families, and Ballas are unknown. It is likely that hostilities naturally developed due to territorial expansion. Their hostilities towards the Grove Street Families has increased over the years due to their involvement in crack-cocaine and the weakening of the GSF - which the Vagos see as an opportunity to possibly take over.
Bio: The Vagos control almost the entire neighborhood of Rancho. However, Varrios Los Aztecas are sometimes seen in northern Rancho. Jamestown St. and the Rancho Projects in the southern part of Rancho are particular hotspots for Vago activity, as well as various backalleys like Cypress Flats.
Los Santos Vagos members can be seen drinking, driving cars, hanging out in groups of 3-5 on the sidewalk, smoking cigarettes and marijuana and drinking Pißwasser. They are easily identified by their mostly yellow attire. Vago clothing style is more modern than the traditional 90's cholo-style, which the Varrios Los Aztecas and the Marabunta Grande still use.

Likewise, the origins and past of their rivalry with the other Los Santos gangs - paticularly the Los Santos Vagos is also unknown, though it obviously began sometime from their origins in the early 80's, late 80's, or the early 90's. It is highly likely that they evolved from the El Corona neighborhood.

Because of this, they started the club and named it 'The Lost' in honour of all their friends who had been killed in the war.
The Lost MC also has a presence in Broker, Liberty City, although they are apparently subordinate to the Liberty chapter leadership in Acter. In 2008, Johnny met up with six bikers from The Lost's Broker detachment on the Broker Bridge. Jason also called for help to the Broker chapter when hired gun Niko Bellic attacked him.
Sometime after the events of The Lost and Damned, some members of the Liberty chapter moved west towards the rural lands of Blaine County; these members included Johnny Klebitz, Clay Simons, and Terry Thorpe. They managed to establish a club hideout in Stab City, known as The Range.
Bio: The Lost's presence grew throughout the county; however, drug use became an issue within the club. Johnny Klebitz, the current President, became addicted to methamphetamine. Johnny's girlfriend, Ashley, also continued her addiction, supplementing payments with sex, much to Johnny's grievance.

The gangs activities, however, had resulted in the FIB to begin investigating the gang. By 2013 they had convinced Javier Madrazo, Martin's cousin, and a former female employee to give evidence against him. Madrazo hires the unnamed associate to kill the investigating DA, kill a possible witness, kill a former female employee, kill a judge, kill the editor of the Daily Globe, kill a former friend at Fort Zancudo, kill twelve jurors and ambushing an FIB team to retrieve some documents.

History- Gang was founded by Kenny Petrovic, who was born in Russia in 1956. His father was the World War II veteran, who fought German at Stalingrad and never gave up the city to the enemy. Kenny arrived in the US in the 1980s on an Israeli passport though, this was confiscated when evidence came to light that he did not, as previously claimed, have a Jewish grandmother. Kenny joined Russian Organized Crime and with the permission of the gang's elders started to make money by shipping American cars back to Russia. After some time in America, he formed his own organization and became the kingpin of Russian Organized Crime in Liberty City, if not the whole United States.
During mid 90's another Russian criminal, Mikhail Faustin, exploited a loophole in the immigration treaty to gain US residency. Along with his so-called brother, Dimitri Rascalov, Mikhail founded his own organization among Russian Organized Crime and later have taken control of it over Hove Beach area, which residents are mostly Russians. Petrovic's Crime Syndicate, however, maintained good relations with Faustin's organization, probably because its interests covered whole city and whole country, making it unnecassary to go at war for control over one neighborhood.
Bio: After the events in Liberty City, Kenny Petrovic decided to move half of his organization to Los Santos. Petrovic looks forward for a fresh new start in Los Santos by conducting business as usual.

History- In 2008, the Messina Family prevented Yusuf Amir from continuing constructing by the labor union. However, Playboy X saw a potential business relationship with Amir, and he therefore hired Niko Bellic to take down all union workers at Amir's construction site. Sometime later in the same year, Rocco Pelosi of the Ancelotti Family kidnapped a union official and had Luis Lopez torture him by hitting him with golfballs. The union official revealed that the head of the LTA was working for the Messina's. He later revealed more information to Rocco, and he ordered Lopez' boss "Gay" Tony Prince to blow up all of the undercover Messina's with Sticky Bombs. Lopez himself took care of the job, resulting in a construction crane, LTA train and a private jet to be blown up. Harvey Noto, the boss of the family owns the upper class Majestic Hotel in Algonquin. This can be the family's base of operations, but there is no evidence to prove this. The Jewish Mob hired a few rooms in the hotel, hinting the fact that they may be allies to the Messina family, but this remains unproven.
In 2009, Rudy D'Avanzo tricked the Triad Huang Lee into believing that his rival Jimmy Capra (a Messina made man) was an undercover police informant who was revealing information about the Triads to the LCPD. Rudy told Huang that he had bugged Capra's car and he ordered Huang to steal it from a Messina-owned parking lot in north Bohan. They later went to a meeting with Capra, where several Messina gangsters and possibly Capra himself were killed. The Messina Family were allied with the Jaoming Family, but after these events it is most likely that their friendship has ended.
Bio: The Messina family is one of the Italian-American families based in Liberty City, and part of the Cosa Nostra The Commission. Named after former boss John Messina, the Messina syndicate is based in Algonquin and Dukes, but also controls Little Italy alongside the other families.
